Overview
Experience the majestic Kilimanjaro on the most popular and scenic trails to reach the summit. The Marangu Route is known as the “Coca-Cola” route due to its relative comfort.
It is one of the oldest and most popular routes on Kilimanjaro. This route is the only one offering sleeping huts in dormitory-style accommodations, making it a preferred choice for those who prefer a more comfortable trek. The route is considered easier due to its gradual slope but offers less time for acclimatization compared to other routes.
The journey takes climbers through lush rainforest, heath, and moorland zones before ascending to the alpine desert and ultimately to the summit. The Marangu Route uses the same trail for both ascent and descent, which may lead to congestion during peak trekking seasons. Despite being considered “easier,” proper preparation is crucial to ensure a successful summit, as altitude sickness remains a significant challenge on this route.
